Marek Tadeusz Zubik

 

Justice Marek Tadeusz Zubik was born on 7 May 1974 in Przemyśl. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. Judge Zubik earned his juris doctor degree in 2000, and a habilitated doctor's degree in legal science in 2004. He is now headmaster of the Chair of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw.

In the years 1998-2002 he held the position of an expert at the Bureau of Studies and Expertise of the Chancellery of the Sejm. Thereafter, from 2002 until 2007, he was deputy director of the Department of Preliminary Review of Applications and Constitutional Complaints in the Office of the Constitutional Tribunal. From November 2007 until July 2010 he was Deputy Commissioner for Civil Rights Protection. In 2010 he was appointed Chairman of the Legislative Council to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland and head of the legislative training programme.

Justice Zubik headed or took part in research projects conducted by the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, the Institute of Public Affairs, and the State Committee for Scientific Research. He served as expert of the Organisation of Security and Cooperation in Europe. In the years 2000-2004 he was secretary of the Polish Section of the International Association of Legal Science based in Paris. From 2004 until 2007 he was secretary of the Committee of Legal Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences and since 2007 he has been member of the presidium of this committee.

Since 2006 he has been on the editorial board of the "Przegląd Sejmowy" [Sejm Review] and since June 2010 he has been chairman of the editorial committee of the "Przegląd Legislacyjny" [Legislative Review]. He is the author, co-author or editor of over 150 scholarly writings on human rights, performance of the Constitutional Tribunal and the judiciary, selected aspects of parliamentary law and state public finance system.

In November 2010 the Sejm of the Republic of Poland appointed him Justice of the Constitutional Tribunal.
