Judge Sławomira Wronkowska-Ja¶kiewicz was born on 14 February 1943 in Poznań. Graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Adam Mickiewicz University. Awarded her juris doctor's degree in 1971, and a habilitated doctor's degree in 1982. Her habilitation thesis (The Problems of Rational Lawmaking) won the contest organised by "Państwo i Prawo" (The State and the Law) journal. A professor since 1995. After graduation, she has worked at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Adam Mickiewicz University. Since 1991 head of the Chair of Theory and Philosophy of Law (former Chair of Theory of State and Law). Judge Wronkowska-Ja¶kiewicz held numerous positions at the University. Of note, she was a member of the University's Senate and deputy rector. She prepared the statutes of the University (twice) and presided over the work of the Legal Committee of the Senate of the Adam Mickiewicz University. For a dozen years or so, lecturer at the European University Viadrina Frankurt (Oder). She is also a lecturer in the Legislation Programme of Postgraduate Studies at Warsaw Univeristy. In 1980-1981 and 1983, took research internship at the Munich Unversity and other scientific centres as the Aleksander von Humboldt Foundation scholar. Frequently invited as a visiting professor in many universities around the world, including Wien, Salzburg, Munich and Bochum. From the end of 1988 until March 2006 a member of the Legislative Council of the Prime Minister and, in 1993, head of a team of experts in law and legislation of the Prime Minister. In 1993 organized a legislative training in the Chancellery of the Council of Ministers and, presently, in the Government Centre of Legislation, which she headed until 2010. Member of the Legal Studies Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences since 2004, and President since 2008. Vice-president of the Polish Association of Legislation, a member of the International Association for Legislation and International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy. Her interests focus on theory and philosophy of law, lawmaking policy and legislative techniques, as well as constitutional law. Author of almost 80 books and other publications in these fields, including student handbooks. Awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Medal of National Education. Winner of Minister's Awards. In May 2010 the Sejm of the Republic of Poland appointed her judge of the Constitutional Tribunal.
