Judge Jadwiga Skórzewska-Łosiak was born on 24 January 1943 in Piotrków Trybunalski. She graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of Warsaw University.
Since 1971 she served as a judge of the Warsaw County Court and afterwards was delegated to the Ministry of Justice where she was involved in the legislative work. In 1975 she was appointed judge of the Voivodship Court in Warsaw. From 1987 to 1989 she practised as an advocate.
From 1980 to 1989 Judge Skórzewska-Łosiak was a member of "Solidarity" Trade Union. She took part in the "round table" negotiations as a member of the team on law and administration of justice.
Since July 1989 she served as Director of the Legal Bureau of the Chancellery of the Senate. From 1990 until 1995 she was undersecretary of state in the Ministry of Justice, responsible for functioning of courts and legislative matters.
In July 1995 the Sejm of the Republic of Poland appointed her judge of
the Constitutional Tribunal.
