NATALIA GAJL

 

Judge Natalia Gajl was born on 23 December 1921 in Poznañ. She died on 6 April 1998.

She graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of £ód¼ in 1950. Judge Gajl earned her juris doctor degree in 1959, and a habilitated doctor's degree in 1963. She was awarded the title of professor in 1970 and became full professor in 1976. In 1954-1961 she practised as a legal adviser. From 1964 she headed the Chair of Financial Law at the University of £ód¼, transformed in 1976 into the Chair of Financial Law and Law of Management of the National Economy. In 1969-1972 she served as deputy dean, and in 1972-1981 as dean at the Faculty of Law of the University of £ód¼.

She was a member of the General Council of Arbitration, Scientific Council of Institute of Finances, Scientific Council of the Minister of Finance, Award Commission of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology.

She was also a member of the Société de Législation Comparée in Paris,  the International Institute of Public Finance in Saarbrücken, International Political Science Association Research Committee on Comparative Study of Local Government and Politics, Faculté International de Droit Comparé in Strasbourg. She was an associate professor at the universities Paris I, Paris II and Paris III.

After 1989 she served as an expert for the Sejm and the Polish government.

She was a prolific author of scholarly publications in the field of financial law.

Natalia Gajl was a Judge of the Constitutional Tribunal from 1985 to 1989.
