Judge Mieczysław Tyczka was born on 13 April 1925 in Witkowo. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Economy of Adam Mickiewicz University [UAM] in Poznań in 1950. Judge Tyczka earned his juris doctor degree in 1961, and a habilitated doctor's degree in 1966. In 1976 he was awarded the title of professor, and since 1992 he has been full professor. From 1953 to 1961 he was employed in the District Arbitration Commission in Poznań as an assistant, arbiter and vice-president. In 1961 he started work as an academic teacher at the UAM in Poznań, and as professor since 1974. He is a prolific author of scholarly publications in the field of civil procedure. Mieczysław Tyczka was a Judge of the Constitutional Tribunal from 1989 to 1994, and President of the Constitutional Tribunal from 1989 to 1993. |
