                               Vice-President of the Constitutional Tribunal

Judge Marek Mazurkiewicz was born on 20 June 1931 in Vilnius. Graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Wroc³aw University in 1954, and since 1956 engaged in scientific research. At the Faculty of Law of that University he was awared his juris doctor and habilitated doctor's degrees. A professor, and among others a member of the University Senate and Deputy Rector of that University. Attended scholarships at Charles University in Prague, University of Vienna, Columbia University in New York and at universities in Bochum and München.

After graduation he completed a court training. A certified legal adviser. He adjudicated in the County Court in Lubañ ¦l±ski and in the Civil Revisory Division of the Voivodship Court in Wroc³aw.

Member of the parliamentary team of experts and of the Financial and Economic Law Section of the Prime Minister's Legislative Council. Member of scientific councils, being among others the Chairman of the Integrated Environment Management Association, Deputy Chairman of Environmental Protection Law Scientific Society and Association of Friends of Ossolineum.

Elected Deputy to the Sejm of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd term of office. In the Sejm of the 2nd term Deputy Chairman of the European Agreement Committee, Chairman of the Legislative Committee and a member of the Constitutional Committee of the National Assembly. Also a member of the European Integration Committee and the Constitutional Accountability Committee of the Sejm of the 3rd term.

Author of numerous publications on financial law and environmental protection law.

Marek Mazurkiewicz was a Justice of the Constitutional Tribunal from 2001 to 2010 and Vice-President of the Constitutional Tribunal in 2010.
