Judge Marian Grzybowski was born on 9 March 1945 in Prądnik Korzkiewski. Graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University in 1967 and then an assistant at that University. From 1968 to 1970 completed a court training and was awarded a judge's certificate. In 1976 he awarded his juris doctor's degree, and a habilitated doctor's degree in 1982. Since 1990 a professor and since 1994 a full professor of legal sciences. A certified legal adviser. Attended scholarships at Warsaw University and universities of Oslo and Bergen, in Umea, Helsinki and Turku, the Columbia University of New York and in the Brookings Institution.
Since 2001 Deputy Chairman and since 2005 Chairman of the General Board of the Polish Constitutional Law Association. Member of the Political Studies Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Legal Sciences Committee of the Cracow Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences since 1990. From 1991 to 1994 member of the Constitutional and Lawmaking Team of the of the Prime Minister's Legislative Council. Between 1996 and 1997 member of the of Permanent Experts' Team of the Constitutional Committee of the National Assembly.
Since 1983 Head of the Contemporary Constitutional Systems Department and since 1990 Head of the Contemporary Constitutional Systems Department Faculty. From 1996 to 2001 Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University.
Author of numerous publications, articles, reviews and legal opinions, and reports concerning constitutional law.
In November 2001 the Sejm of the Republic of Poland appointed him judge of the Constitutional Tribunal.
