Mirosław Granat

 

Judge Mirosław Granat was born on 24 April 1956 in Lubartów. Graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin in 1980. Awarded his juris doctor's degree in 1985, and a habilitated doctor's degree in 1995. A professor inlaw since 2004.

In 1981-2006 he worked at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. Since 1993 lecturer at the National School of Public Administration. From 1995 to 2001 lecturer at the Catholic University of Lublin. Since 2003 headed the Chair of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University.

In 1993-1996 an expert in the Chancellery of the Senate of the Republic of Poland. Between 1996 and 1999 a legal assistant in the Office of the Constitutional Tribunal. In 1999-2006 employed as senior specialist in legislation in the Chancellery of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. Member of the Legislative Council of the Prime Minister from 5 February to 30 April 2007.

Member of the Team on Constitution of the Polish Episcopate between 1996 and 1997, and member of the Scientific Council of the Bishop of Lublin in 1999-2001. Member of the Polish Constitutional Law Society (and Vice-President), the Lublin Scientific Society, Scientific Society of the Catholic University of Lublin, and the Association Français de Droit Constitutionnel. Since 2006, Editor-in-chief of "Przegląd Sejmowy" [Sejm Review].

Author of over 100 publications, including several books on law and government systems, e.g. on the jurisprudence of constitutional courts.

In April 2007 the Sejm of the Republic of Poland appointed him judge of the Constitutional Tribunal.
