Justice Adam Józefowicz was born on 24 December 1928 in Uniejów. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Łódź in 1952. Judge Józefowicz earned his juris doctor degree in 1979.

From 1954 he served as a judge of the county court in Sieradz, chairing its Civil Department. He was vice-president of the county court in Łódź from 1958, and then president of that court. In 1962-1977 he was a judge of a Voivodship Court and an inspection judge in civil cases. In 1977 he was designated to the Civil Division of Legal Department of the Ministry of Justice, where he served as a specialist, a senior specialist and a head of a division. He was a judge of the Supreme Court from 1989 to 1998.

He is an author of one monograph and approximately 110 articles and glosses in the field of civil law, labour law and family law.

Adam Józefowicz was a Justice of the Constitutional Tribunal from 1985 to 1989.
